"Wisdom"

The serpent coiled around the cross signifies the cunning, wily tempter who betrayed man into committing sin. In Revelation 12:9 the serpent is called the devil and Satan.

The dove and the lamp are both symbols for wisdom and inspired thought. The dove with outspread wings standing on the lamp has, by the power of the cross and the wisdom of God, overcome the serpent.
